The Flock of the Shepherdess

As I was going through my photographs this morning, I came across a couple of pictures that I thought would make interesting backdrops for an illustration. One was of an old abandoned electrical building and the other was a damn, both located just outside Niagara Falls, Ontario.

This illustration is comprised only using my own photographs. The mime, which came from a series of photos I took at a street festival in Little Italy, made a rather sweet shepherdess I thought, tending to her flock of ducks.

The original photo of the tree in the upper left corner has no flowers and the building with the pillars has no daisies growing below the steps. These are just a couple of the details that are added to give interest and to cover up things like unwanted dirt.

All-in-all, this illustration came together rather quickly, taking only a few short hours to complete.
