Queen Adalara

(An adaptation of Thumbelina)

Concept behind this illustration:
Adalara is a child queen in an alternate story of Thumbelina's sister. In this version, for much of the story, Adalara's surroundings and companions are as miniature as she. In this illustration,the young queen is taking a sea voyage in her flower boat, propelled by a lily pad, and accompanied by her aunt and her friends, the three foxes, the cat, the owl and the toucan. To hasten her voyage, the boat is being swiftly propelled by the underwater spirit of the sea.
